Bands Battling Cancer 2014

Thank you to everyone who made Bands Battling Cancer 2014 a huge success. Together we raised over $6,300 bringing the six year total to $34,000. We hope you will enjoy the photos from this year's event. If you have photos or video that you would be willing to share, we would love to have them. See you next year!

Hi, my name is Alec Lopata, and I am a High School Junior from Deerfield, Illinois. For the past six years I have organized a ‘Battle of the Bands’ to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Bands Battling Cancer has been a huge success, now raising $34,000 for the American Cancer Society. You can see some photos and the media coverage from last year's event. We hope to do even better this year.

If you are in a Middle School or High School band, or if you know someone who is, please join us for this great event. You can find out more about participating.

Way back when this all started!

The event is also intended as an end of school party. Family and friends are welcome to attend and enjoy this event. Food & beverages from The Alley's regular menu will be available for purchase.

100% of the proceeds will go directly to the American Cancer Society as all of the costs for the event have been covered. We will be asking for a donation at the door with a suggested minimum of $5 per person (we will of course gladly accept larger donations). You can also donate online.

How did this all get started?

Seven years ago, my friend Jack was diagnosed with leukemia. I am now raising money for the American Cancer Society, so that other people don’t have to suffer as much as Jack has.
